About the High Performance Centre

The Laurier Golden Hawks Curling High Performance Centre, located at the K-W Granite Club in Waterloo, Ontario, offers access to certified, high-performance coaching expertise and a variety of curling-specific instructional programs. The Centre’s partners include the K-W Granite Club, which provides facilities and resident ice time for the Centre’s activities, and the Wilfrid Laurier University Department of Athletics and Recreation, which provides financial support for Varsity and Junior Varsity curling teams at Laurier.

The Curling High Performance Centre runs under the direction of Gary Crossley, the head coach of the Wilfrid Laurier varsity curling program.

The Centre offers a range of resources and expertise for a wide range of needs, including the coaching and development of high-performance teams resident at Laurier, coaching assistance with external high-performance teams, development of younger bantam and junior curlers, and clinics to assist competitive club teams in improving their skills.

Specific services offered by the Centre include:

  • access to certified coaching expertise;
  • technical skills: delivery, brushing, split timing, ice reading;
  • off-ice fitness programs;
  • strategy and tactics;
  • access to introductory sports psychology;
  • training and consulting in team dynamics;
  • video analysis;
  • clinics, seminars, private or team sessions.

Sessions and fees

The Centre offers a selection of off-ice and on-ice sessions with dedicated ice time at the K-W Granite Club on Sunday mornings from 9:00am through 11:00am.

Fees for on-ice sessions held at other clubs are negotiable. Packages of sessions can be customized to suit the needs of your rink.
