David Kaun (CCA Competition Coach – Trained) is the coach of the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks junior varsity men’s and women’s teams, and has curled for more than 15 years.
David is a first time coach and an avid curler. He curled with the Laurier men’s varsity team for four years and recently started to become involved in coaching. Driven by both a curiosity to coach, and a passion to work and achieve with others, David has taken up residence as the Junior Varsity coach of the men’s and women’s teams at Laurier.
Tricked by Gary Crossley into thinking that coaching was no big thing, David has quickly learned just how much time and dedication is required for success by both the athletes and the coach.
The key to achieving ones’ goals is rooted in dedication, and teamwork. A desire to achieve and excel will not only push the athlete, but also the coach, to new heights of dedication and achievement. Through working with young, aspiring athletes and seeing them achieve and excel both in curling and life, teaches not just the athletes themselves but also the coach just how important teamwork really is.
